The onion and orange Mostarda from Cremona is an original recipe by Leccornie Doc, a workshop from Lombardy aiming at bringing the handmade Mostarda from Cremona back to its original splendour.
According to tradition, this Mostarda is made with whole orange slices and diced onion, whose content amounts to 60% of the end product.
The recipe follows the tradition from Cremona: the thick syrup is slightly spicy, due to the presence of mustard essential oil, and is perfectly balanced by the sweet and fresh candied fruits.
The handmade onion and orange Mostarda pairs well with cold cuts, meat (try it in a nice gourmet hamburger!) and with medium-aged or blue cheeses, such as Castelmagno cheese or PDO Strachitunt cheese.
